PCD Remote Station
Bring the radio operating experience to your Windows computer. PCD Remote Station provides a purpose-built control interface for supported amateur radios, combining radio control, operating information and a familiar front-panel style in one application.
Your Radio. Your Station. Remote.
PCD Remote Station is designed around a simple idea: the radio remains the radio. The Windows application provides the operator with a remote control surface that keeps important station functions visible and accessible while preserving the feel of operating amateur-radio equipment.
The project supports radio-specific interfaces where appropriate while also providing a streamlined generic-radio interface for simpler station configurations.
Radio Control
Operate supported radio functions from a dedicated Windows control surface.
Remote Operation
Designed as part of a host/client remote-station system for operating away from the shack.
Radio-Specific Interfaces
Different radios can use interfaces suited to their capabilities instead of forcing every radio into one layout.
Features
Frequency & VFO Control
View and control operating frequency through the remote radio interface.
Operating Controls
Access supported mode, gain, tuning and other radio controls from the Windows application.
Metering
Radio status and meter information are presented directly on the remote control surface where supported.
Spectrum Display
The IC-7610 interface includes the radio’s spectrum and waterfall presentation as part of the remote operating experience.
Host / Client Design
The station-side Host communicates with the radio while the remote Client provides the operating interface.
Transmit Safety
The remote architecture is designed with controlled transmit authority and safe return-to-receive behavior.
Radio Interfaces
PCD Remote Station has already been tested with multiple radio-interface designs. The Icom IC-7610 is the default radio and provides the most complete PCD Remote Station interface.
Icom IC-7610 DEFAULT RADIO
The IC-7610 is the primary/default radio for PCD Remote Station. Its interface provides a full front-panel style control surface together with frequency, radio controls, metering and spectrum/waterfall display.
Elecraft KX3
PCD Remote Station has also been tested with the Elecraft KX3, using a radio-specific interface designed around the controls and operating style appropriate to the KX3.
Generic Radio
A simplified generic-radio interface provides the core controls needed for radios that do not require or support a more elaborate radio-specific front panel.
Setup
Shack PC
The station-side Windows PC runs the PCD Remote Station Host and maintains the connection to the radio.
Remote PC
The remote Windows PC runs the Client interface used by the operator away from the station.
Supported Radio
Select the appropriate radio interface for the station, with the IC-7610 serving as the default radio.
Development status: PCD Remote Station is a new PCD Software Works product. The IC-7610, Elecraft KX3 and Generic Radio interfaces shown above have been tested during development.
